DominusVault – User Guide

This guide describes how to use DominusVault as a regular user (backup and restore).

1. Logging in

Open the application URL and enter your username and password. If you forgot your password and an e-mail is configured, use Forgot password to receive a reset link.

2. Dashboard

The dashboard shows widgets: quick actions, recent events, status, repository usage, reports, and trends. You can customize visible widgets and their layout (drag and resize).

3. Backup and restore

Use Backup / Restore in the sidebar to open the wizard:

Backup – select server, repository, and databases; run backup. Backups are compressed (7z or .dvb) and optionally encrypted.
Restore – choose server, repository, and date; select backups to restore. You can restore to the same or another server.
Roles – dump or restore PostgreSQL roles (pg_dumpall -r) if your plan includes them.

4. History and charts

History lists past backup/restore operations. Charts show backup size trends per database (from cached data).

5. Connections

If you have permission, Connections shows active database connections (per server).

Filters are available: a server dropdown (with engine label, for example PostgreSQL/MySQL/MS SQL) and a phrase search box (user, IP, app, database, state) to quickly find the session you need.

6. Backup plans

If your administrator created backup plans, you can view and run them (if permitted). Scheduled runs are configured by the admin.

7. User menu (top right)

Click your avatar to access:

Language – switch interface language (e.g. English / Polski).
Recent changes – release-by-release list of improvements and fixes.
Change password – set a new password (must meet complexity rules).
E-mail – set or change your e-mail (for password recovery and notifications).
